April 17, 2007 — Mr. Merasty (Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River) — That this House apologize to the survivors of Indian Residential Schools for the trauma they suffered as a result of policies intended to assimilate First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, causing the loss of aboriginal culture, heritage and language, while also leaving a sad legacy of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

April 17, 2007 — Mr. Coderre (Bourassa) — That,
(1) whereas all Members of this House, whatever their disagreements may be about the mission in Afghanistan, support the courageous men and women of the Canadian Forces;
(2) whereas in May 2006, the government extended Canada's military commitment in Southern Afghanistan to February 2009;
(3) whereas it is incumbent upon Canada to provide adequate notice to the other members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of our intentions beyond that date;
(4) whereas by February 2009, Canada's military mission in Southern Afghanistan will represent one of the largest and longest military commitments in Canadian history; and
(5) whereas Canada's commitment to the reconstruction and security of Afghanistan is not limited to our combat operations in Southern Afghanistan;
this House call upon the government to confirm that Canada’s existing military deployment in Afghanistan will continue until February 2009, at which time Canadian combat operations in Southern Afghanistan will conclude; and call upon the government to notify NATO of this decision immediately.

M-309 — April 17, 2007 — Mr. Siksay (Burnaby—Douglas) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) endorse the Yogyakarta Principles on the Application of International Human Rights Law in relation to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity; (b) seek to fully implement these principles in Canada; and (c) work towards their acceptance and implementation worldwide through the United Nations, all other human rights and international law forums, and Canada’s relations with other countries.
M-310 — April 17, 2007 — Mr. Telegdi (Kitchener—Waterloo) — That, in the opinion of the House, in order to show respect and to honour Canadian Forces and other Canadian government personnel who are killed while serving in overseas peacekeeping, peacemaking or humanitarian missions, the government should lower the flag on the Peace Tower to half-staff for the day following their demise as a remembrance of their important service to Canada and Canadians and that a moment of silence to be observed in the House, if the House is sitting on that same day.
