The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tyrone Benskin, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Gordon Brown, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Parm Gill, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study and invite relevant witnesses to testify on the escalating success of the Canadian entertainment software industry, with particular emphasis on the creation of high-value domestic employment, and examine what measures government might take to further promote growth, innovation and commercial success in this vital 21st Century industry.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the Committee hear from government witnesses in relation to its study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Committee meeting be devoted to giving drafting instructions to the Analysts for the draft report pertaining to the study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, February 7, Thursday, February 9, Tuesday, February 14, and Thursday, February 16, 2012, the meetings be devoted to the study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017 with a particular focus on museums.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, February 28, Thursday, March 1, Tuesday, March 6, Thursday, March 8, Tuesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 15, 2012, the meetings be devoted to the Committee's study of Canada's entertainment software industry.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, March 27, Thursday, March 29, Tuesday, April 3, Thursday, April 5, Tuesday, April 24 and Thursday April 26, 2012, the meetings be devoted to the Committee's review of national protocol procedures.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee authorize the Chair to suspend a study upon the referral of a bill from the House.

 

At 10:04 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
