The Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:49 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Ken Boshcoff, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Ken Boshcoff, Peter Julian and Denise Poirier-Rivard.

 

Acting Members present: Gary Goodyear for Carol Skelton and Russ Powers for Ruby Dhalla.

 

In attendance: Parliamentary Information and Research Service: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada: Peter Hill, Deputy Director General, Emergency Management Policy; James Young, Special Advisor to the Deputy Minister. Department of Industry: Chaouki Dakdouki, Director, Regulatory Policy and Planning.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Wednesday, February 19, 2005, the Subcommittee resumed its study of issues related to persons with disabilities.
 

Peter Hill made a statement and, with the James Young and Chaouki Dakdouki, answered questions.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Subcommittee, in consultation with the Chair, issue a news release to invite Canadians with disabilities to apply for the 2005 Centennial Flame Research Award.

 

It was agreed, — That the Statutory Report on the administration of the Centennial Flame Award Act, 2004-2005 be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

 

At 1:06 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
