House Finance Committee Tables its Pre-Budget Consultations Report in Advance of the 2019 Budget

Ottawa, December 10, 2018 -

Today, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance tabled its pre-budget consultations report. The report, entitled “Cultivating Competitiveness: Helping Canadians Succeed,” contains 99 recommendations for the upcoming federal budget.

“I would like to provide my thanks to all the groups and individuals who appeared before the Committee in Ottawa and throughout Canada and those who submitted a brief this summer, for their contributions to our consultations,” said the Honourable Wayne Easter, P.C., M.P. for Malpeque, Prince Edward Island, and Chair of the Committee. “This year, their proposals focused on what steps the federal government can take to support and encourage Canadians and their businesses to grow the economy in the face of a changing economic landscape. They were invaluable for Committee members in developing their recommendations.”

“The pre-budget consultations play an important role in the development of the federal budget. Therefore, I encourage Canadians to continue their participation in this process in years to come,” Mr. Easter concluded.
