The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Hoang Mai, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, Mike Sullivan, Jeff Watson, Wai Young and David Yurdiga.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Stéphane Dion for David J. McGuinty, Jim Eglinski for David Yurdiga and Matthew Kellway for Isabelle Morin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Laureen Kinney, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security; Brigitte Diogo, Director General, Rail Safety; Nicole Girard, Director General, Transport Dangerous Goods.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, the Committee proceeded to a briefing of the Department of Transport on the implementation of the recommendations in Chapter 7 of the 2013 Fall Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
 

Laureen Kinney made a statement and, with Brigitte Diogo, answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of updating infrastructure in Canada: an examination of needs and investments.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Updating Infrastructure in Canada: An Examination of Needs and Investments".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they do not exceed ten (10) pages (in Arial 12 point font, justified alignment and single line spacing) and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
