The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met by teleconference at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 268 The Valour Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Guy Caron, Joan Crockatt, Pat Perkins, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Aubin for Chris Charlton, Dennis Bevington for Linda Duncan and Rick Norlock for Ryan Leef.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Government of the Northwest Territories: Evan Walz, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Environment and Natural Resources; Frank Lepine, Director, Forest Management Division; William Mawdsley, Associate Director, Forest Management Division. Government of Yukon: George Ross, Deputy Minister, Energy, Mines and Resources; Lyle Dinn, Director, Forest Management Branch. Dakwakada Development Corporation: Brian MacDonald, Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, January 29, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of Canada’s forest industry.
 

Evan Walz, by teleconference from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, George Ross, Lyle Dinn and Brian MacDonald, by teleconference from Whitehorse, Yukon made statements and, with Frank Lepine and William Mawdsley, by teleconference from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, answered questions.

 

At 5:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:02 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the meeting of Thursday, April 30, 2015, be cancelled.

 

At 5:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
