The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Linda Duncan, Ryan Leef, Christine Moore, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Megan Anissa Leslie for Chris Charlton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Michael Edwards, Principal, Fairweather Hill; Vitalii Dem'ianiuk, Participant, Executive Master Program for International Oil and Gas Leadership, Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development. Deloitte Canada: Geoff Hill, Consulting Partner, National Oil & Gas Sector Leader. As an individual: Anders Aslund, Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 10, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the opportunities for Canada to contribute to energy security in Ukraine and the rest of Europe.
 

Michael Edwards, Vitalii Dem'ianiuk, by videoconference from Geneva, Switzerland, Geoff Hill, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, and Anders Aslund, by teleconference from Washington, D.C., made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 6,800, for the study of the opportunities for Canada to contribute to energy security in Ukraine and the rest of Europe, be adopted.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
