The Standing Committee on National Defence met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair of the Committee, the Hon. Peter Kent, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: James Bezan, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Hon. Peter Kent, Jean-François Larose, Élaine Michaud, Joyce Murray, Rick Norlock and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Jasbir Sandhu for Jack Harris.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martin Auger, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of National Defence: Jill Sinclair, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Canadian Armed Forces; MGen Christian Rousseau, Chief, Defence intelligence, Canadian Armed Forces. Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development: Artur Wilczynski, Director General, International Security and Intelligence Bureau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the defence of North America.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:44 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to its study of the defence of North America, the budget in the amount of $52,020.20, for the Committee’s travel to Bagotville, Quebec; Gagetown, New-Brunswick; and Halifax, Nova Scotia, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That in relation to its study of the defence of North America, the proposed budget in the amount of $154,337.95, for the Committee’s travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; and Cambridge Bay, Resolute Bay and Iqaluit, Nunavut, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That in relation to its study of the defence of North America, the proposed budget in the amount of $17,041.92, for the Committee’s travel to Trenton, Ontario; Thule, Greenland; and Alert, Nunavut, be adopted.

 

At 12:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
