The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 9:16 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Joyce Bateman, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Joe Daniel, Jacques Gourde, Jamie Nicholls, Lise St-Denis and John Williamson.

Acting Members present: Pierre Dionne Labelle for Yvon Godin, Cheryl Gallant for Corneliu Chisu and Hélène LeBlanc for Manon Perreault.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

Witnesses: Réseau des cégeps et des collèges francophones du Canada : Laurier Thibault, Director General. Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada: Suzanne Bossé, Executive Director; Marjie Brown, Manager, Immigration. World Trade Centre Winnipeg: Mariette Mulaire, President and Chief Executive Officer. Association canadienne française de l'Alberta: Angélina Gionet, Director General, Wood Buffalo Region.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 6, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the economic situation of Canada's minority linguistic communities.

Laurier Thibault, Suzanne Bossé, Mariette Mulaire, Marjie Brown and Angélina Gionet, by videoconference from Fort McMurray, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
