The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Cathy McLeod, Christine Moore, Murray Rankin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Lawrence Toet and Isabelle Morin for Matthew Kellway.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst; Havi Echenberg, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Sony Perron, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. Public Health Agency of Canada: Kimberly Elmslie, Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Branch. Canadian Institutes of Health Research: Anthony G. Phillips, Scientific Director, Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction. Mental Health Commission of Canada: Louise Bradley, President and Chief Executive Officer; Jennifer Vornbrock, Vice-President, Knowledge and Innovation.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 30, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of Mental Health in Canada.
 

Anthony G. Phillips, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Kimberley Elmslie and Sony Perron made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Louise Bradley made a statement and, with Jennifer Vornbrock, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
