The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Libby Davies, Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Dany Morin and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Matthew Kellway for Claude Gravelle and Lawrence Toet for David Wilks.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Association of Poison Control Centres: Martin Laliberté, President. Canadian Pharmacists Association: Barry Power, Pharmacist; Glen Doucet, Vice-President, Advocacy and Public Affairs. Vancouver General Hospital: Milan Khara, Clinical Director, Smoking Cessation Clinic. As an individual: David Hammond, Associate Professor, School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $39,800.00, for the study of the E-cigarettes be adopted.

 

At 11:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:37 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of e-cigarettes.
 

Milan Khara, Martin Laliberté, Barry Power and David Hammond made statements and, with Glen Doucet, answered questions.

 

At 12:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, following its meetings held the week of November 3, 2014, the Committee sit solely for the purpose of addressing legislation and estimates as referred by the House of Commons until the Procedure and House Affairs Committee's report entitled “Striking Membership of Standing and Standing Joint Committees” is adopted in the House of Commons.

 

At 12:44 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
