The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Paulina Ayala, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Andrew Cash, Guy Lauzon, Chungsen Leung, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Rathika Sitsabaiesan, Mike Wallace and John Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Peter Goldring for Patrick Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Gauthier, Analyst; Melissa Pang, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Chris Alexander, P.C., M.P., Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of subject matter of clauses 174 (Criminal Code) and 175 (Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act) and 290 to 293 (Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) of Bill C-4, A second act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures.
 

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:44 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
