The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Gordon Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Gordon Brown, Hon. Stéphane Dion, Rick Dykstra, Ted Falk, Jim Hillyer, François Lapointe, Irene Mathyssen and Pierre Nantel.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Allen for John Weston.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst. House of Commons: David-Andrés Novoa, Legislative Clerk.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Rick Norlock, M.P., Northumberland—Quinte West. Ducks Unlimited Canada: Jim Brennan, Director, Government Affairs. Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters: Greg Farrant, Manager, Government Affairs and Policy. Fédération québécoise des chasseurs et pêcheurs: Pierre Latraverse, President.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 27, 2013, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day.
 

Rick Norlock made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:51 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:54 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Jim Brennan,, Greg Farrant and Pierre Latraverse made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:41 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 75(1), consideration of the Preamble and Clause 1, Short Title, were postponed.

The Chair called Clause 2.
