The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Gordon Brown, Hon. Stéphane Dion, Rick Dykstra, Ted Falk, Jim Hillyer, François Lapointe, Irene Mathyssen, Pierre Nantel and John Weston.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst. House of Commons: Christine Holke David, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Rick Dykstra, it was agreed, — That Gordon Brown be elected Chair of the Committee.

 
By unanimous consent, pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of Vice-Chairs.
 

On motion of Rick Dykstra, it was agreed, — That Pierre Nantel be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of Rick Dykstra, it was agreed, — That Stéphane Dion be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 11:07 a.m., Gordon Brown took the Chair.

 

At 11:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:09 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, February 6, 2014, the meeting be devoted to the study of Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day, and that the Committee hear from Rick Norlock, the sponsor of the Bill, for fifty (50) minutes, and then hear from other witnesses for fifty (50) minutes and that the last ten (10) minutes of the meeting be reserved for the clause-by-clause consideration of the bill.

 

It was agreed, — That witness lists for Bill C-501, An Act respecting a National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day be submitted to the Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

 

It was agreed, — That the meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, be devoted to planning of the study on the Canadian Music Industry.

 

At 11:18 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
