The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Gerald Keddy, Larry Maguire, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault and Bev Shipley.

 

Acting Members present: Lois Brown for Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Cereals Canada: Cam Dahl, President. Spirits Canada: Jan Westcott, President and Chief Executive Officer; C.J. Helie, Executive Vice-President. Canadian Produce Marketing Association: Ron Lemaire, President. Canadian Pork Council: Martin Rice, Executive Director; Catherine Scovil, Associate Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of promoting domestic trade of agricultural and agri-food products by reducing interprovincial barriers.
 

Jan Westcott, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Martin Rice made statements and with C.J. Helie, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, answered questions.

 

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Cam Dahl, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Ron Lemaire made statements and, answered questions.

 

At 5:24 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite members of the Canadian Young Farmers Forum to appear on February 26, 2015, for a briefing session to discuss issues that are important to them as young farmers in the Canadian agricultural industry.

 

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
