The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 4:20 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randall Garrison, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

Acting Members present: François Choquette for Ruth Ellen Brosseau.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst ; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Gerry Ritz, P.C., M.P., Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

Witnesses: Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Andrea Lyon, Deputy Minister; Greg Meredith, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch; Pierre Corriveau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2014-15: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD, Vote 1 under CANADIAN DAIRY COMMISSION, Vote 1 under CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

The Chair called Vote 1 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD.

The Minister answered questions.

By unanimous consent, the Chair called Votes 5 and 10 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD, Vote 1 under CANADIAN DAIRY COMMISSION, and Vote 1 under CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION.

Votes 1, 5 and 10 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD, Vote 1 under CANADIAN DAIRY COMMISSION, and Vote 1 under CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION carried.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1, 5 and 10 under AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD, Vote 1 under CANADIAN DAIRY COMMISSION, and Vote 1 under CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, to the House.

At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
