The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvain Chicoine, Royal Galipeau, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Bryan Hayes, Greg Kerr, John Rafferty, Peter Stoffer and Frank Valeriote.

 

Acting Members present: Dean Allison for Parm Gill and Bev Shipley for Wladyslaw Lizon.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Charlotte Bastien, Director General, Field Operations; Elizabeth Douglas, Senior Director, Strategic and Enabling Initiatives, Service Delivery Program Management; Sandra Lambe, Director, Program Policy and Outreach; David Pierce, Director of Parliamentary Affairs, Minister's Office. Public Service Commission of Canada: Anne-Marie Robinson, President; Gerry Thom, Vice-President, Staffing and Assessment Services; Michael West, Acting Director General, Delegation and Accountability.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, June 3, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Public Service Employment Act (enhancing hiring opportunities for certain serving and former members of the Canadian Forces).
 

Charlotte Bastien made a statement and, with Elizabeth Douglas and Sandra Lambe, answered questions.

 

At 4:14 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:19 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Anne-Marie Robinson made a statement and, with Gerry Thom and Michael West, answered questions.

 

At 4:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
