Presenting Reports from Interparliamentary Delegations
Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Ms. Brown (Newmarket—Aurora) presented the report of the Canadian delegation of the Canada-France Interparliamentary Association concerning its participation at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Canada-France Interparliamentary Association, held in Paris, Normandy and Pays de Loire, France, from August 31 to September 7, 2011. — Sessional Paper No. 8565-411-55-03.

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Lunney (Nanaimo—Alberni), seconded by Mr. Cannan (Kelowna—Lake Country), Bill C-388, An Act to establish a National Vitamin D Day, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:

Business of Supply

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Ms. Blanchette-Lamothe (Pierrefonds—Dollard), seconded by Mr. Marston (Hamilton East—Stoney Creek), moved, — That this House reject calls by the Prime Minister to balance the Conservative deficit on the backs of Canada’s seniors by means such as raising the age of eligibility for Old Age Security and call on the government to make the reduction and eventual elimination of seniors’ poverty a cornerstone of the next budget.

Debate arose thereon.

The debate continued.
