The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:25 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Françoise Boivin, David Christopherson, Larry Miller, Joe Preston, Merv Tweed and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Kevin Sorenson for James Bezan.

 

Other Members present: Ed Komarnicki and Mark Warawa.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Karen Thriepland, Coordinator, Logistics Services. Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development: Miriam Burke, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development: Jean-Marie David, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food: David-Andrés Novoa, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights: Jean-François Pagé, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development: Marie-France Renaud, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on budget submissions.
 

The Chair gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities for the year 2012-2013.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted a travel budget of $44,162.60 to travel to Roberval, Quebec, Truro and Sydney, Nova Scotia, in relation to its study on Land-Use and Sustainable Economic Development, in the Winter-Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted a travel budget of $59,383.60 to travel to Westbank, Penticton and Osoyoos, British Columbia, and Saskatoon, Leask and North Battleford, Saskatchewan, in relation to its study on Land-Use and Sustainable Economic Development, in the Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget of $19,471.80 to travel to Guelph, Ontario, in relation to its study on Animal Products Supply Chain, in the Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development be granted a travel budget of $37,823.10 to travel to Halifax, Lunenburg and Prospect, Nova Scotia, in relation to its Study to Provide Recommendations Regarding the Development of a National Conservation Plan, in the Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development be granted a travel budget of $71,150.50 to travel to Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni, Bowser and Vancouver, British Columbia, and Calgary, Olds and Longview, Alberta, in relation to its Study to Provide Recommendations Regarding the Development of a National Conservation Plan, in the Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $63,883 to travel to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Montreal, Quebec, in relation to its study on Fixing the Skills Gap: Addressing Existing Labour Shortages in High Demand Occupations and Understanding Labour Shortages: Addressing Barriers to Filling Low-Skilled Jobs, in the Spring of 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted a travel budget of $76,403 to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Calgary and Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Estevan, Saskatchewan, in relation to its study on Fixing the Skills Gap: Addressing Existing Labour Shortages in High Demand Occupations and Understanding Labour Shortages: Addressing Barriers to Filling Low-Skilled Jobs, in the Spring of 2012.

 

At 1:55 p.m., David Christopherson took the Chair.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development be granted a travel budget of $155,704 to travel to Kiev, Kharkiv and Lvov, Ukraine, in relation to its Briefing on the Situation in Ukraine, in the Spring of 2012.

 

At 2:03 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
