The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:34 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Joe Comartin, Nathan Cullen, Marc Garneau, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Greg Kerr, Alexandrine Latendresse, Tom Lukiwski, Joe Preston, Scott Reid, Nycole Turmel and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Lake for Harold Albrecht and Larry Miller for Greg Kerr.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst; Andre Barnes, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: Audrey O'Brien, Clerk of the House of Commons; Kevin M. Vickers, Sergeant-at-Arms.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, March 15, 2012, the Committee commenced consideration of the question of privilege relating to the free movement of Members within the Parliamentary Precinct.
 

Audrey O'Brien made a statement and, with Kevin M. Vickers, answered questions.

 

At 12:37 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to appear at the meeting scheduled on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in relation to the study of the question of privilege relating to the free movement of Members within the Parliamentary Precinct.

 

At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
