Meeting No. 74

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Christopherson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Jay Aspin, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Hon. Gerry Byrne, David Christopherson, Earl Dreeshen, Alain Giguère, Bryan Hayes, Daryl Kramp, Andrew Saxton, Bev Shipley and John Williamson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alex Smith, Analyst.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee undertake studies of the following chapters of the Fall 2012 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, with hearings scheduled in the following order, if possible:

• Chapter 6, Transfer Payments to the Aerospace Sector — Industry Canada

• Chapter 7, Long-Term Fiscal Sustainability — Finance Canada

• Chapter 2, Grant and Contribution Program Reforms

• Chapter 3, Protecting Canadian Critical Infrastructure Against Cyber Threats; and

that the hearing on Chapter 6, Transfer Payments to the Aerospace Sector — Industry Canada, be scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, 2013 or Thursday, February 14, 2013 subject to witness availability.

It was agreed, — That the Committee consider draft reports at its meeting on Thursday, February 7, 2013.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the Order of reference of Tuesday, October 30, 2012, the Committee undertake a study of the Public Accounts of Canada 2012, and that a hearing be scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 5, Oversight of Civil Aviation — Transport Canada, of the Spring 2012 Report of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the Committee on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
