Meeting No. 68

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Peter Braid, Hon. Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Jean-François Larose, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst . Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates: Linda Duncan . Library of Parliament: Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: Ezio DiMillo, Acting Director General, Major Crown Projects, Parliamentary Precinct Branch; Joanne Monette, Director General, Planning and Operations, Parliamentary Precinct Branch; Pierre-Marc Mongeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Parliamentary Precinct Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(i) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, the Committee commenced its study of the renovations and associated costs for the parliamentary precinct renovation project.

Pierre-Marc Mongeau made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:32 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:33 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the following motion: “That the Committee invite the Minister of Public Works and Government Services to appear before Committee in order to provide an update on recently announced changes to integrity provisions on procurement and real property transactions” be referred to the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure for further consideration.

At 10:39 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
