The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Alexandre Boulerice, Peter Braid, Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Mathieu Ravignat, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: John Carmichael for Scott Armstrong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Robert Marleau, Former Clerk of the House of Commons; John Williams, Chief Executive Officer, Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption.

 

Mathieu Ravignat gave notice of the following motion:

That, given the systemic problem of cost overruns for multiple military procurement contracts, the Committee undertake a study on the military procurement process; invite the ministers responsible and several other witnesses to appear as part of this study as soon as possible; and report its findings and recommendations to the House.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the process for considering the estimates and supply.
 

Robert Marleau made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

John Williams made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
