The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Peter Julian, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Phil McColeman, Lee Richardson, David Sweet and Glenn Thibeault.

 

Acting Members present: Dan Harris for Brian Masse and Ted Hsu for Hon. Geoff Regan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and Chief Executive Officer; Morgan Elliott, Chair, Innovation Committee. Business Development Bank of Canada: Michel Bergeron, Vice-President, Corporate Relations; Pamela Darragh, Assistant Vice-President, Information and Communications Technology Solutions. Information Technology Association of Canada: Karna Gupta, President and Chief Executive Officer. Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce: Ian McLean, President and Chief Executive Officer. As an individual: Michael Deturbide, Professor and Associate Dean, Academic, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, September 26, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the e-commerce market in Canada.
 

Michael Deturbide, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Perrin Beatty, Karna Gupta, Michel Bergeron and Ian McLean made statements and, with Morgan Elliott and Pamela Darragh, answered questions

 

At 4:51 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
