The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Niki Ashton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Mylène Freeman, Ed Holder, Roxanne James, Irene Mathyssen, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Lois Brown for Wai Young, Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay for Susan Truppe and Jeff Watson for Stella Ambler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Jacques Paquette, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Income Security and Social Development Branch; Ellen Healey, Director, Social Programs Division, Community Development and Partnerships Directorate, Income Security and Social Development . Royal Canadian Mounted Police: Brenda Butterworth-Carr, Chief Superintendent, Director General, National Aboriginal Policing and Crime Prevention Services; Barbara McMorrow, Constable, Policy and Program Analyst, National Aboriginal Policing Services, Contract and Aboriginal Policing.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of abuse of older women.
 

Jacques Paquette made a statement and, with Ellen Healey, answered questions.

 

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Brenda Butterworth-Carr made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
