The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joan Crockatt, Anne-Marie Day, Sana Hassainia, Roxanne James, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Joy Smith for Joyce Bateman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst; Erin Shaw, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Union of Canadian Correctional Officers: Anne-Marie Beauchemin, Correctional Officer; Francine Boudreau, Correctional Officer. Public Service Alliance of Canada: Andrée Côté, Women's and Human Rights Officer, National Programs Section; Robyn Benson, National President; Mary Chamberlain, Executive Vice-President, Union of National Defence Employees; Janet Hauck, National Vice-President, Union of Solicitor General Employees; Robin Kers, National Representative, Union of Solicitor General Employees; Bob Kingston, National President, Agriculture Union, Co-Chair, Service-Wide Policy Committee on Health and Safety.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace.
 

Robyn Benson, Anne-Marie Beauchemin and Francine Boudreau made statements, and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee continue to hear from the witnesses for an additional 15 minutes.

 

At 12:14 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:24 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee meet with a delegation from the Northwest Territories on Thursday, January 31, 2013, and that it defray the hospitality expenses related to this meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the representatives of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers to return before it at the earliest opportunity to answer questions.

 

At 12:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
