The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the President, Niki Ashton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joyce Bateman, Françoise Boivin, Sana Hassainia, Ed Holder, Roxanne James, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Charmaine Borg for Mylène Freeman, Lois Brown for Wai Young and Kirsty Duncan for Hon. Judy Sgro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie Lalande Prud'homme, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure. The Report, as amended, was adopted and read as follows:

1. That the Committee undertake a study on elder abuse, and that meetings for the study be scheduled on Tuesday, October 18, 2011; Thursday, October 20, 2011; Tuesday, October 25, 2011; and Thursday, October 27, 2011;

2. That members submit their witness lists for the study on elder abuse to the clerk by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011;

3. That the Committee resume its study of violence against aboriginal women on Tuesday, November 1, 2011;

4. That the Committee undertake a study on the date rape drug (drug-facilitated sexual assault);

5. That the Committee meet with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya and his delegation on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

 

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
