The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Bob Dechert, Paul Dewar, Hon. Mark Eyking, Nina Grewal, Hélène Laverdière, Ève Péclet, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Dave Van Kesteren and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Dennis Bevington for Romeo Saganash.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Laureen Kinney, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group; Sylvain Lachance, Executive Director, Regulatory and Quality Assurance, Marine Safety and Security. Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Jody Thomas, Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Canadian Coast Guard; Jacqueline Gonçalves, Director General, Maritime Services Directorate, Canadian Coast Guard; Renée Sauvé, Director, Global Marine and Northern Affairs, International Affairs Directorate. PROLOG Canada Inc.: Kells Boland, Project Manager.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Arctic Foreign Policy.
 

Laureen Kinney and Jody Thomas each made a statement and, with Jacqueline Gonçalves and Sylvain Lachance, answered questions.

 

At 11:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kells Boland, by videoconference from Whitehorse, Yukon, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
