The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Bob Dechert, Paul Dewar, Nina Grewal, Hélène Laverdière, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Ève Péclet, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Dave Van Kesteren and John Williamson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst. House of Commons: Joann Garbig, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Bob Dechert, it was agreed, — That Dean Allison be elected Chair of the Committee.

 
By unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of Vice-Chairs.
 

On motion of Bob Dechert, it was agreed, — That Paul Dewar be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of John Williamson, it was agreed, — That Hon. Dominic LeBlanc be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 8:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:53 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
By unanimous consent the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee begin consideration of the draft report on the Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Canada's International Development Interests on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.

 

It was agreed, — That, the Committee meet informally with a delegation of parliamentarians from Iceland, that the Committee defray the hospitality expenses related to this meeting, and that these expenses be equally shared with the Standing Committee on International Trade.

 

It was agreed, — That for the first hour on October 4, 2012, the Committee discuss future business, and that for the second hour the Committee continue consideration of the draft report on the Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Canada's International Development Interests.

 

At 9:08 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
