The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Kerry Buck, Political Director and Assistant Deputy Minister, International Security, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean Branch; Cameron MacKay, Director General, Asia-Pacific Trade Policy Bureau; Neil Reeder, Director General, Latin America and Caribbean Bureau; Martial Pagé, Director General, North America Policy Bureau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 4, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the benefits for Canada in joining the Pacific Alliance as a full member.
 

Kerry Buck made a statement and, with Cameron MacKay and Neil Reeder, answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, Gerald Keddy moved, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $8,700, for the study of the benefits for Canada in joining the Pacific Alliance as a full member, be adopted.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 5.

 

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
