The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 10:59 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Brian Masse, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Ève Péclet, Mathieu Ravignat, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Chief, Macroeconomics and Trade; Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Ed Fast, P.C., M.P., Minister of International Trade.

 

Witnesses: Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development: Louis Lévesque, Deputy Minister of International Trade; Nadir Patel, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Planning, Finance and Human Resources.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 1, 2012, the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2012-2013: Vote 20 under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
 

The Chair called Vote 20 under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

The question: "Shall Vote 20 under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE carry?" was put and was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Ron Cannan, Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Bev Shipley, Devinder Shory — 7; NAYS: Raymond Côté, Brian Masse, Ève Péclet, Mathieu Ravignat — 4.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 20 under FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE to the House.

 

At 12:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
