The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Matthew Dubé, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel, Blake Richards, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Chungsen Leung for Gordon Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst. House of Commons: Caroline Bosc, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Skate Canada: Jeffrey Partrick, Director, Coaching and Skating Programs. Oakville Soccer Club: Dino Lopez, Technical Director. As individuals: Jamie Atkin, Club Manager and Head Coach, Airdrie Edge Gymnastics Club; Jason deVos; Shane Esau, Exercise Physiologist, Canadian Sport Centre - Calgary.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, the Committee commenced its study on the status of amateur coaching in Canada.
 

Jeffrey Partrick, Dino Lopez and Jamie Atkin made statements and answered questions.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That notwithstanding the 48 hour notice routine motion adopted on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, Pierre Nantel be allowed to move his motion.

 

On motion of Pierre Nantel, it was agreed, — That the Committee congratulates our artists and creators who have once again represented our country so well at the Academy Awards.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Jason deVos and Shane Esau made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
