The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Blake Richards, Brian Storseth, Merv Tweed, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Earl Dreeshen for Randy Hoback.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Western Barley Growers Association: Brian Otto, Director. Atlantic Grains Council: Allan Ling, Chairman; Michael Delaney, Member; Neil Campbell, General Manager, Prince Edward Island Grain Elevators Corporation. Canadian National Millers Association: Gordon Harrison, President. Malting Industry Association of Canada: Philip de Kemp, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of agricultural and agri-food products supply chain (grains and oilseeds).
 

Brian Otto made a statement and answered questions.

 

Allan Ling and Neil Campbell, by videoconference from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, made statements and, with Michael Delaney, answered questions.

 

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Philip de Kemp and Gordon Harrison made statements.

 

At 10:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
