The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Peter Stoffer, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Sean Casey, Sylvain Chicoine, Bryan Hayes, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, Irene Mathyssen, Erin O'Toole, Peter Stoffer and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Annick Papillon for Manon Perreault.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Steven Blaney, P.C., M.P., Minister of Veterans Affairs.

 

Witnesses: Department of Veterans Affairs: Mary Chaput, Deputy Minister; Charlotte Stewart, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2012-2013: Vote 5c under VETERANS AFFAIRS referred to the Committee on Monday, February 25, 2013; and
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2013-14: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under VETERANS AFFAIRS referred to the Committee on Monday, February 25, 2013.
 

The Chair called Votes 5c and 1 under VETERANS AFFAIRS.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with Mary Chaput, answered questions.
