The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Dennis Bevington, Ray Boughen, Rob Clarke, Linda Duncan, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Carol Hughes, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Kyle Seeback, Chris Warkentin and David Wilks.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Analyst; Norah Kielland, Research Assistant.

 

Witnesses: Mining Association of Canada: Paul Hébert, Vice-President, Government Relations. Mining Industry Human Resources Council: Ryan Montpellier, Executive Director. Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada: Philip Bousquet, Senior Program Director; Scott Cavan, Program Director, Aboriginal Affairs.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Land-Use and sustainable economic development.
 

Paul Hébert, Ryan Montpellier and Philip Bousquet made statements and, with Scott Cavan, answered questions.

 

At 4:55 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:01 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Land-Use and Sustainable Economic Development, the proposed budget in the amount of $59,383.60, for the Committee’s travel to Western Canada be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
