The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dennis Bevington, Lois Brown, Bonnie Crombie, Sukh Dhaliwal, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Colin Mayes, Blake Richards, Merv Tweed, Hon. Joseph Volpe and Jeff Watson.

Acting Members present: Pascal-Pierre Paillé for Roger Gaudet.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst ; Jean Dupuis, Analyst.

Witnesses: National Airlines Council of Canada: Bernie Adamache, Chair, Maintenance and Engineering Subcommittee; Michel Chiasson, Chair, Flight Operations Subcommittee; Jacques Mignault, Member, Safety Subcommittee. Canadian Business Aviation Association: Sam Barone, President and Chief Executive Officer; Art LaFlamme, Special Advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Federal Pilots Association: Daniel Slunder, National Chair.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on March, 25, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Aviation Safety and Security - Safety Management Systems for the Aviation Industry.

Bernie Adamache, Michel Chiasson, Jacques Mignault and Sam Barone made statements and, with Art Laflamme, answered questions.

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:20 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Daniel Slunder made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
