The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Lois Brown, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Roger Gaudet, Michel Guimond, Brian Jean, Colin Mayes, Merv Tweed and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Brad Trost, Bonnie Crombie for Hon. John McCallum, Don Davies for Dennis Bevington and Hon. Maria Minna for Sukh Dhaliwal.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Ardiana Hallaci, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Ligue des droits et libertés: Dominique Peschard, President. International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group: Roch Tassé, National Coordinator. British Columbia Civil Liberties Association: Micheal Vonn, Policy Director.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 26, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-42, An Act to amend the Aeronautics Act.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:38 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:46 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, dependent on the availability of Members, extra meetings be scheduled as follows:

• Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for a briefing from Transport Canada on the consequences of noise caused by airport operations in urban areas;

• Monday, December 6, 2010, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for the Minister on the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2010-2011; and

• Tuesday, December 7, 2010, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for a briefing from Transport Canada on issues related to the Air Canada Public Participation Act (ACPPA), followed by Air Canada on the same issues.

 

It was agreed, — That Members submit further witnesses on the study of the consequences of noise caused by airport operations in urban areas and on the study of issues related to the ACPPA.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
