The Subcommittee on Neurological Disease of the Standing Committee on Health met by teleconference at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 209 West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Patrick Brown, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo and Joy Smith.

 

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Megan Anissa Leslie.

 

Other Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: MS Liberation: Rebecca Cooney, Co-founder. As individuals: Samuel Ludwin, Professor of Pathology (Neuropathology), Queen's University; Sandy McDonald, Medical Doctor; T. Jock Murray, Professor Emeritus, Dalhousie University. Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada: Nadine Prévost, Director, Services and Outreach, Quebec Division. As an individual: Janet Salloum. University of Calgary: Samuel Weiss, Professor and Director, Hotchkiss Brain Institute.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Subcommittee commenced its study on Neurological Diseases.
 

Sandy McDonald, T. Jock Murray, Janet Salloum, Rebecca Cooney, Nadine Prévost by teleconference from Montreal, Quebec, Samuel Weiss by teleconference from Calgary, Alberta and Samuel Ludwin by teleconference from Kingston, Ontario made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
