The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Richard M. Harris, Hon. Geoff Regan and Alan Tonks.

Acting Members present: André Bellavance for Claude Guimond, Cheryl Gallant for Russ Hiebert and Bernard Généreux for Mike Allen.

Associate Members present: Pat Martin.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2010-2011: Votes 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 under NATURAL RESOURCES referred to the Committee on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.

The Committee resumed consideration of Vote 10 of the Main Estimates, and the motion of Pat Martin — That Vote 10 in the amount of $ 1,877,636,000 be reduced by $ 250,000 to $ 1,877,386,000.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Nathan Cullen — 1; NAYS: David Anderson, Navdeep Bains, André Bellavance, Paule Brunelle, Cheryl Gallant, Bernard Généreux, Richard M. Harris, Geoff Regan, Alan Tonks — 9.

Vote 10 under NATURAL RESOURCES carried on division.

The Chair called Vote 15 under NATURAL RESOURCES.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 under NATURAL RESOURCES to the House.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee travel to Chalk River to visit the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited facilities on Tuesday, April 13, 2010.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 3,204 for the Committee’s trip to Chalk River, ON, in Spring 2010 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Budget Subcommittee of the Liaison Committee.

At 9:26 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
