The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Rod Bruinooge, Siobhan Coady, Jacques Gourde, Ed Holder, Pat Martin, Richard Nadeau, Yasmin Ratansi and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Diane Bourgeois, Alexandra Mendes for Martha Hall Findlay and Paul Szabo for Siobhan Coady.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Monday, May 10, 2010, regarding the Main Estimates 2010-2011, the Committee invite the relevant officials from the Privy Council Office to appear for the first hour of the meeting, and those from the Department of Public Works and Government Services for the second hour of the meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Wednesday, May 12, 2010, regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government, the Committee invite Derrick Snowdy to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Wednesday, May 26, 2010, regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government, the Committee invite Jim Wright to appear for the first hour of the meeting and Ian Harvey for the second hour of the meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Monday, May 31, 2010, regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government, the Committee invite Upper Canada Solar Generation, Canadian Solar Incorporated and Renewable Energy Group to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Wednesday, June 2, 2010, regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government, the Committee invite Doug Maley, Sebastien Togneri, Andrew House, Scott Wenger, Kimberley Michelutti, André Morin and Sandy White to appear; and that for this meeting all the witnesses limit their opening speeches to two minutes.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Monday, June 7, 2010, regarding the study on federal buildings maintenance contracts, the Committee invite the relevant officials from the Department of Public Works and Government Services and representatives of SNC-Lavalin to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Wednesday, June 9, 2010, regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government, the Committee invite Rahim Jaffer and the Hon. Member for Simcoe-Grey, Helena Guergis, to appear.

 

It was agreed, — That for its meeting of Monday, June 14, 2010, regarding the study on the freeze on departmental resource envelopes and government operations, the Committee invite the relevant officials from the Department of Public Works and Government Services to appear for the first hour of the meeting, and the Information Commissioner of Canada and her relevant officials to appear for the second hour of the meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That with regard to witnesses invited to appear regarding the study on renewable energy projects funded by the government until the House adjourns for the summer, it be left to the discretion of the Chair to order the appearance of the persons concerned in accordance with Standing Order 108(1)(a) should they display reluctance to appear or decline the invitation made to them, with the proviso that this does not apply to the Hon. Member for Simcoe-Grey.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget of $25,900 be adopted.

 

At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
