The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Acting Chair, Tim Uppal, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Ruby Dhalla, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Luc Malo, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Nicole Demers for Luc Malo and Bruce Stanton for Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie-Anne Macdonald, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 and on Thursday, March 3, 2011, the Committee meetings be devoted to the healthy living study, with a focus on food labelling, and that members of the Committee send to the Clerk their list of suggested witnesses for these meetings by Friday, February 18, 2011.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to a study of antibiotics and livestock.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Health, departmental officials and other related agencies to appear before the Committee on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in relation to the study on Supplementary Estimates (C) 2010-2011.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to a study of drug shortages.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, March 24, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to the consideration of the draft report on the healthy living study.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to a study on allergen food labelling on beer.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, March 31, 2011, if needed, the Committee resume consideration of the draft report on the healthy living study and in the event that the consideration of the draft report is completed, that the meeting be devoted to the topic of suicide prevention.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, on Thursday, April 7, 2011, on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 and on Thursday, April 14, 2011, the Committee meetings be devoted to a study on the future of medecine.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to the study on injury prevention with a focus on sports injury and concussions.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, May 5, 2011, one hour of the Committee meeting be devoted to the planning of future business and one hour to the topic of non-insured health benefits with members of the Assembly of First Nations' Chiefs Committee on Health.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, the Committee meeting be devoted to the consideration of Bill S-211.

 

At 4:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
