The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:03 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joyce Murray and Joy Smith.

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Tim Uppal and Carol Hughes for Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst ; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

Witnesses: Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada: Marcia Anderson, Past President. National Indian and Inuit Community Health Representatives Organization: Debbie Dedam-Montour, Executive Director. First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission: Michel Deschênes, Policy Analyst; Isabelle Verret, Program Officer, Aboriginal Health and Human Resources Initiatives. Aboriginal Nurses Association of Canada: Rhonda Goodtrack, Director of Education, Secretary-Treasurer; Audrey-Claire Lawrence, Executive Director. National Aboriginal Health Organization: Valorie Whetung, Director, First Nations Centre.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on Health Human Resources.

Rhonda Goodtrack, Isabelle Verret, Marcia Anderson, Valorie Whetung and Debbie Dedam-Montour made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:30 a.m., Joyce Murray took the Chair.

At 10:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
