The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joy Smith and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Larry Bagnell for Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh and Joyce Murray for Ruby Dhalla.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, October 7, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to the consideration of the draft report on the study of the cancellation of the HIV vaccine manufacturing facility under the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative and to the consideration of the proposed letter to the Minister of Health on rare diseases.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, the Committee hear from witnesses in relation to the study on the impact of microwaves on human health.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, October 21, 2010 and on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, the Committee meetings be devoted to the study of stem cell donation in Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to the study of the implementation of the recommendations of the Weatherill Report on the 2008 listeriosis outbreaks.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, October 28, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to an administrative review of Assisted Human Reproduction Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 and on Thursday, November 4, 2010 the Committee meetings be devoted to the consideration of the draft report on the study of the impact of microwaves on human health.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, November 18, 2010, on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 and on Thursday, December 2, 2010 the Committee meetings be devoted to the study of injury prevention in Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, November 25, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to an examination of Health Canada's development of new regulations for tobacco packaging warning labels.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to the consideration of the draft report on the study of stem cell donation in Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, Thursday, December 9, 2010, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 and Thursday, December 16, 2010, the Committee meetings be devoted to the study of healthy living.

 

It was agreed, — That if Bill C-36, An Act respecting the safety of consumer products is passed through the House at second reading and referred to the Committee, that priority will be given to the study of this bill.

 

At 11:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
