The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Joyce Murray, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joyce Murray and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Rob Clarke for Tim Uppal.

 

Associate Members present: Carol Hughes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

At 9:07 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Analysts prepare a draft letter to the Minister of Health on the issue of rare disorders.

 

At 9:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:07 a.m., the Committee resumed sitting in public.

 

On motion of Luc Malo, it was agreed, — That Megan Leslie be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 9:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:08 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, June 10, 2010, the Committee meet from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to conduct a roundtable meeting on the potential risks and benefits of nanotechnology and that from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the Committee meeting be devoted to its study on the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Weatherill Report on the 2008 Listeriosis Outbreak.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, the entire meeting be devoted to the study of Supplementary Estimates (A) 2010-2011.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on Health Human Resources.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, the Committee meet from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. to resume consideration of the Health Human Resources (HHR) draft report.

 

At 10:55 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
