The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Cathy McLeod, Joyce Murray, Joy Smith and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Tim Uppal, Rob Clarke for Colin Carrie, Dean Del Mastro for Tim Uppal, Nicole Demers for Luc Malo and David Tilson for Patrick Brown.

 

Associate Members present: Carol Hughes.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on Health Human Resources.
 

The witnesses answered questions.

 

At 10:28 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:29 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, the Committee consider the draft report related to its study of the Elevated Rates of Tuberculosis Infection in the First Nations and Inuit Communities.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, May 27, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to its study of Health Canada's Authorization of the Broader Use of Caffeine as Food Additive in all Carbonated Soft Drinks.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 and on Thursday, June 3, 2010, the Committee consider the draft report related to its study of Health Human Resources.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to its study of the Potential Risks and Benefits of Nanotechnology.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, June 10, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to its study on the Weatherill Report on the 2008 Listeriosis Outbreak.

 

It was agreed, — That on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, the Committee consider the draft report related to its study on the Cancellation of the HIV Vaccine Manufacturing Facility under the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, June 17, 2010, the Committee meeting be devoted to its study of Lessons Learned from the H1N1 Response.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., the Committee host a special breakfast to discuss the issue of rare disorders.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
