The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen St., the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Scott Armstrong, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Bonnie Crombie, Dean Del Mastro, Royal Galipeau, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau and Blake Richards.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Bryon Wilfert for Scott Simms and Borys Wrzesnewskyj for Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Media Production Association: Norm Bolen, President and Chief Executive Officer; Reynolds Mastin, Counsel. Association des producteurs de films et de télévision du Québec: Claire Samson, President and Chief Executive Officer; Suzanne D'Amours, Consultant. Corus Entertainment Inc.: Gary Maavara, Executive Vice-President and General Counsel, Corporate; Sylvie Courtemanche, Vice-President, Governement Relations. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the impacts of private television ownership changes and the move towards new viewing platforms.
 

Norm Bolen and Reynolds Mastin made statements and answered questions.

 

Gary Maavara and Sylvie Courtemanche made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Valerie Creighton made a statement and, with Stéphane Cardin and Sandra Collins, answered questions.

 

Claire Samson made a statement and, with Suzanne D'Amours, answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
