The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Larry Bagnell, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, Shelly Glover, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville, LaVar Payne, Todd Norman Russell, Bruce Stanton and John Weston.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. John Duncan, P.C., M.P., Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians and Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency: Nicole Jauvin, Deputy Minister and President; Sheila Silva, Director of Corporate Services. Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Susan MacGowan, Chief Financial Officer; Colleen Swords, Associate Deputy Minister; Michael Wernick, Deputy Minister.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2010-2011: Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 15b, 40b, and 45b under INDIAN AFFAIRS AND NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 4, 2010.
 

The Chair called Vote 1b.

 

The Hon. John Duncan made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:00 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), the sitting was suspended.

At 4:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
