The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:07 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Leon Benoit, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Paul Szabo and Merv C. Tweed.

 

Acting Members present: Larry Miller for Joe Preston and Chris Warkentin for David Sweet.

 

Other Members present: Claude DeBellefeuille, Ed Fast and Kevin Sorenson.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights: Miriam Burke, Clerk of the Committee; Isabelle Duford, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development: Angela Crandall, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Natural Resources: Marie-France Renaud, Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Senior Director (acting).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation of the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources be granted an operational budget of $67,800 for its study on the contribution of integrated approaches for providing energy services in Canadian communities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be granted a travel budget of $202,049 to travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia; Montréal, Quebec; Toronto, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia, for public hearings and town hall meetings in relation to its study of the state of organized crime, from March 29 to April 3, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development be granted a travel budget of $40,908 to travel to Washington, District of Columbia, in relation to its review of key elements of Canadian Foreign Policy, in April 2009.

 

At 1:34 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
