The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, France Bonsant, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Associate Members present: Cheryl Gallant.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian GeoExchange Coalition: Denis Tanguay, President and Chief Executive Officer; Ted Kantrowitz, Vice-President. Canadian Wind Energy Association: Sean Whittaker, Vice-President, Policy. Pembina Institute: Tim Weis, Director, Renewable Energy and Efficiency. Québec Federation of Forestry Cooperatives: Jocelyn Lessard, Director General; Brigitte Gagné, Representative, Executive Director, Conseil canadien de la coopération.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on the contribution of integrated approaches for providing energy services in Canadian communities.
 

Denis Tanguay, Sean Whittaker, Tim Weis and Jocelyn Lessard made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of the motion, as amended, of Paule Brunelle, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Natural Resources examine the ecoEnergy programs with a view to proposing the necessary modifications to maximise their accessibility and their environmental impacts and that it be reported back to the House.

The debate continued.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to on division.

 

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
