The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Ed Holder, Pat Martin, Richard Nadeau and Yasmin Ratansi.

 

Acting Members present: Siobhan Coady for Judy Foote, Colin Mayes for Chris Warkentin and Tim Uppal for Patrick Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Sylvain Fleury, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Vic Toews, President of the Treasury Board.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2009-2010: Votes 1b and 15b under TREASURY BOARD, referred to the Committee on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2009-2010: Vote 95b under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Vote 1b under GOVERNOR GENERAL, Vote 1b under PRIVY COUNCIL, Votes 1b, 5b and 7b under PUBLIC WORKS AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES and Votes 1b and 15b under TREASURY BOARD referred to the Committee on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Martha Hall Findlay moved, — That Infrastructure Canada, or such other department of the Government of Canada as may be appropriate, be ordered to provide the Committee (i) by December 8, 2009, a copy of all of the quarterly Expenditure and Job Creation Reports that such department has received by the date hereof; and (ii) by the third calendar day after the date upon which each of the forthcoming quarterly Expenditure and Job Creation Reports is received by the government of Canada, a copy of each of these Reports; all of the above, respecting the jurisdictions of the provinces.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 0.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the economic stimulus package.
 

Yaprak Baltacioglu and John Forster made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That representatives of Infrastructure Canada, the Department of Finance and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency be invited to appear at the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, 2009, concerning implementation of the Economic Action Plan.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
